Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about how we work, what we deliver, and what to expect when engaging with Asterion Orbit Technologies.

How does the onboarding process work?

Our onboarding follows a structured three-phase approach. First, we conduct a discovery session with your key stakeholders to understand your current environment, priorities, and constraints. Second, we perform a technical assessment of your existing infrastructure, security posture, and operational workflows. Third, we present a clear engagement plan with timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements. The entire onboarding typically takes 2-4 weeks depending on organizational complexity.

What are typical project timelines?

Timelines vary by engagement type. Infrastructure assessments typically run 3-6 weeks. Security baseline reviews take 2-4 weeks. Cloud migration projects range from 8-16 weeks depending on scope. Data integration implementations usually complete in 4-8 weeks for initial phases. Managed operations onboarding takes 2-4 weeks. We provide detailed project plans with milestones during the proposal stage, and we communicate proactively if timelines shift.

What support coverage do you provide?

Standard support is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM in your local time zone. For clients with managed operations agreements, we offer 24/7 critical incident support with dedicated escalation contacts. Response times vary by urgency: Critical (30 minutes), High (2 hours), Normal (8 business hours), and Planning (2 business days). All support requests are tracked through our client portal.

What's included in your cybersecurity scope?

Our cybersecurity practice covers security baseline assessments, detection and response support, access governance, incident readiness planning, email protection, vulnerability management, and executive security reporting. We work with your existing tools where possible and recommend additions only when gaps require them. We don't sell security products—we design and operate security programs tailored to your risk profile and operational reality.

How do you handle cloud migrations?

We approach cloud migrations as structured programs, not single events. We start with a comprehensive assessment of your current environment, application dependencies, and business requirements. We then develop a phased migration plan that prioritizes low-risk workloads first, allowing us to validate the approach before moving critical systems. Throughout the process, we maintain parallel operations to ensure business continuity. Every migration includes testing gates, rollback procedures, and stakeholder communication at each phase.

What kind of documentation do you provide?

We document everything that matters: architecture designs, configuration standards, operational procedures, incident response playbooks, access governance frameworks, and change management processes. All documentation is delivered in accessible formats (not proprietary tools) and becomes your institutional knowledge. When our engagement ends or when new team members join your organization, the knowledge stays with you. We believe documentation is a deliverable, not an afterthought.

How does escalation work when something goes wrong?

Our escalation model is straightforward. Every support request is assigned a priority level based on business impact. Critical issues receive immediate attention with direct access to senior engineers. High-priority issues are escalated within 2 hours. For all issues, you'll receive proactive status updates—we won't make you chase for information. If an issue requires specialized expertise, we bring in the right people without making you repeat your story. Account managers serve as your single point of contact for coordination.

How does your pricing approach work?

We offer flexible pricing models based on engagement type. Project-based work is priced with fixed fees and clear scope definitions. Managed operations use per-user or per-device monthly pricing with transparent service levels. Advisory retainers are structured around monthly hour allocations with rollover provisions. We don't bill for internal meetings or status calls. Every proposal includes a detailed cost breakdown so you understand exactly what you're paying for and why.

Do you provide remote or onsite delivery?

Most of our work is delivered remotely, which allows us to engage the right expertise regardless of geography. However, we maintain the capability for onsite delivery when the situation calls for it—physical infrastructure work, executive workshops, incident response, or stakeholder alignment sessions. For multi-location organizations, we coordinate across sites to minimize disruption. We'll recommend the right delivery model based on the work required, not our convenience.

How do you handle sensitive data?

We treat client data with the same care we'd expect for our own. All team members complete security awareness training and background checks. We follow the principle of least privilege—team members access only the data needed for their assigned work. Data in transit is encrypted, and we use secure channels for all sensitive communications. We don't retain client data beyond the engagement period unless specifically agreed for ongoing operations. Our data handling practices are documented in our Privacy Policy.

What happens during a service transition?

Service transitions—whether onboarding a new engagement or transitioning away from one—are handled with structured knowledge transfer. For new engagements, we conduct thorough discovery and documentation before making changes. For transitions away, we ensure all documentation is current, credentials are transferred securely, and your internal team or new provider has everything needed to maintain continuity. We never create dependency traps. Our goal is to leave you stronger, not more reliant.

How do we get started?

Start by reaching out through our contact form or calling us directly. We'll schedule an introductory conversation to understand your situation and determine whether there's a fit. If there is, we'll follow up with a more detailed discovery session and then present a proposal with clear scope, timeline, and pricing. There's no obligation through the discovery phase—we want you to feel confident in the approach before committing. The entire process from first conversation to signed engagement typically takes 2-4 weeks.

Can you work with our existing IT team?

Absolutely. Many of our engagements are designed to augment existing teams rather than replace them. We can provide specialized expertise your team lacks, handle overflow during peak periods, or take ownership of specific operational areas while your team focuses on strategic initiatives. We see ourselves as an extension of your organization, not a separate entity. Our documentation and communication practices are designed to keep everyone aligned.

What industries do you serve?

We focus on mid-market and enterprise organizations across healthcare networks, logistics operators, advanced manufacturers, professional service firms, and multi-location businesses. Our experience spans regulated industries that need structured security and compliance approaches, as well as growth-stage organizations that need technology to scale with them. We're U.S.-focused and understand the operational realities of American businesses.
